Homemade face packs and scrub for healthy skin

facepacks for men and women

Summer is the time to let go and have fun. Most trips and fun events are planned around this time of the year. Given the long list of activities, one wants to be looking their best, be it men or women. Although summer brings all things good with it, it’s not that great of a friend to your skin. In fact, it can be downright brutal to it. Because of the rise in the temperature, you can face skin problems such as acne, oily skin, rashes, and sunburn/tan to name a few.

Therefore, having a proper skincare routine is very important. This task has become difficult given the number of chemicals that are present in the skincare products available in the market. And when we decide to choose something that is natural and not swimming in damaging chemicals, it turns out to be as expensive as a piece of jewelry.

Therefore, the best way to beat all the above-mentioned obstacles is to make your own skincare products at home. Yes, you read that right! We’ve seen our mothers and grandmothers do it, and maybe at one point did it ourselves, but soon gave up because who has enough time to make homemade mixtures for healthy skin anymore, right? Wrong. We do have time, we just don’t want to do it because of the plethora of enticing skincare products available in the market.

This summer it’s time to change that, and start making your own homemade skin care products that will be easy on your pocket and also not filled with unnecessary and damaging chemicals.

Here are a few recipes for homemade skincare mixtures, that can be made in a jiffy!

Did you know Multani mitti has such strong cleansing properties that it was recommended for cleansing old monuments? And at one point even Taj Mahal got beautified with this mixture to cleanse the pollutants that gave it a dirty appearance?

These days the condition of our skin is no different from that of Taj Mahal, given the constant pollution. Ok, maybe not that extreme of a reaction but you definitely are disappointed.

To rid your skin of the dirt use this homemade mixture at least twice a week, which will repair your skin and make it healthy again.

Coffee and coconut oil face/body scrub

We suggest you use this scrub over the weekend. You don’t have to do it alone, you could rope in your friends, siblings or a spouse and make a day out of it – where you make this delicious smelling scrub and then exfoliate your skin while dancing to some music, reading a good book or binge-watching a series on Netflix.

This face/body scrub will remove the dead skin, deeply nourish and leave you with radiant and glowing skin. It’s also perfect for that date night!

The caffeine in coffee stimulates the skin and improves blood flow to the face, which makes our skin glow and look radiant. Coconut oil is again a natural moisturizer,  it nourishes our skin and the best part is that it suits all skin type.

  • 1 teaspoon ground coffee powder
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil

Directions to make and use:

  • Mix in the ground coffee powder along with the coconut oil
  • You can always increase/decrease the quantity of the coconut to reach the desired consistency.
  • Apply it on the face and wait for it to dry and then gently scrub the mixture on your skin for 10 minutes.
  • Wipe it with a wet cloth and then wash it thoroughly until the grease from the coconut oil has vanished

Note: To be safe, it’s best to apply a little amount of the above-mentioned face packs/scrub on a small patch of skin to test and see if it causes any reactions. And then proceed with the full application.
